The Rocket Chinese Course

Deciding to study any language is fun, but wanting to learn Chinese is an exciting experience to undertake. Mandarin is so different from any other language you want to be certain the course you choose is up to the task.

The question is, how can you be sure you're selecting the right course to learn Chinese? This Rocket Chinese review is our effort to share our experience with the course for those wanting to learn Mandarin Chinese.

The Rocket Chinese program is produced by a company called Rocket Language Ltd. The course was written by Lin Ping, a native of China.

The company has an outstanding reputation for producing high quality language learning courses which include French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese and Chinese, Arabic, as well as the American Sign Language.

The first module of Rocket Chinese contains 31 audio tracks that will have you speaking some basic words after your first listen.

The course teaches conversational Chinese, meaning you can converse with native Chinese speakers in your travels as well as comfortable ordering in restaurants, asking for directions etc.

The Rocket Chinese package includes the actual transcripts of the audios and we found that to be very helpful in following along. Each audio is roughly 25 minutes long which means the full module runs about 14 hours of content.

The methods used in the content allow you to absorb and speak Chinese quickly. Fourteen hours may seem like a lot I know, but with the use of the audio tracks the time goes by very quickly and effortlessly.

The program also includes software that makes learning very easy, and more importantly, fun. The first software application is what they call MegaVocab. ™.

This software contains a vocabulary recognition tool, which we found extremely helpful in the beginning of our studies.

You basically run through a series of words and you learn the words through repetition, and an association with a picture. It's very similar to when you used flashcards to learn words when you were a child.

The software has 1000 words and pictures built into it, but it allows you to add more words and pictures of your choice as you advance through the course.

We found this software to be a lot of fun to use. It's one thing to learn the vocabulary, but to understand it when spoken, is another. In our opinion this is where other programs fall short, and where Rocket Chinese excels.

Another excellent aspect of the Rocket Chinese™ program is that it's not just an introductory course. The course is designed with the assumption you have no background in the Chinese when starting. But it continues to an advanced level as well.

We felt this increased the value of the program because you won't feel the need to go out and invest in a more advanced course as you progress.

Possibly the most impressive part of this course, in our opinion, is the members only forum where you can ask questions and communicate with other students and the Rocket Language online instructors.

To us, this forum makes the cost of this course a real bargain. If you happen to get stuck on something, you'll find lots of help in the forum.

We had a hard time finding a course to learn Chinese we felt was worth the investment of time and money. But the cost of this course was the real surprise. The folks at Rocket Language offer the complete course as an easy download. By choosing this option you can purchase the Rocket Chinese for less than one hundred dollars.

The course is also offered on a set of CD's, but that option comes at a price of three hundred dollars. We were happy with the downloaded version and were able to burn the course to CD's in order to listen in the car or on a ipod.. But we used our computer to take most of the course.

We also liked the fact the Rocket Language company backs their product with a 60 day money back guarantee. This made us feel very comfortable with our decision.

When looking at the quality of the material presented in the course, the methods used to teach you the material, the software, and the support offered in the members only forum, it's easy for us to strongly recommend the course.
